In this season of Thanksgiving, the Pennsylvania College of Technology community is reminded of those in need – including students whose food insecurity is mitigated by The Cupboard, a food pantry housed in the Bush Campus Center. The pantry’s reach has been bolstered through the generosity of Frank G. Pellegrino, who contributed funds for six stand-alone “mini-cupboards” – each with a refrigerator and shelving for non-perishables – strategically situated across the college’s campuses.

Every now and then, we all need someone in our corner to remind us of our value. When Lizeth V. Reyes-Becerra has those moments, her thoughts turn to those who have tangibly shown their confidence in her tomorrow-making abilities. Reyes-Becerra, of Erie, earned an associate degree in May 2022 in building construction technology and is pursuing a bachelor's in residential construction technology & management.

We're halfway through the 2023 "Give Thanks, Paw It Forward" initiative, overseen annually by the College Relations Office, offering a third iteration of a message that never goes out of fashion. Lend an ear to Colten C.B. Hajicek, an emergency management & homeland security student from Redmond, Washington, who found a cross-country home in his academic major and a family on the Wildcat lacrosse team.

Day two of College Relations' “Give Thanks, Paw It Forward” campaign spotlights Jay Patel, who knew from a young age in India that his passion for innovation would develop into a satisfying career. “I am forever thankful for the generous scholarships and grants we can apply for and receive as students," said Patel, who is set to graduate Dec. 16 with degrees in automated manufacturing technology and manufacturing engineering technology.

In what has become a fall tradition, College Relations and its "Give Thanks, Paw It Forward" campaign shine a light on the appreciation that Penn College students hold for those who aid their educational journey. Penn College News will share a "Meet the Makers" profile every day this week, starting with nursing student Bryn A. Vargo, of Trout Run.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students added a new chapter to their history of success at Baja SAE with a recent top-10 finish in the competition’s premier event. At Baja SAE Ohio, Penn College placed ninth in the four-hour endurance race, considered the toughest test at the international showcase. Schools are required to design, manufacture and build a single-seat, all-terrain, four-wheel-drive vehicle to survive various challenges.

The founder and president of a Troy-based manufacturer with global reach is honoring his roots through an enduring commitment to Pennsylvania College of Technology. From scholarships to internships, John M. Estep has created a strong bond between E-Tech Industrial Corp. and his alma mater. Estep is a 1974 mechanical drafting alumnus of Penn College predecessor institution Williamsport Area Community College.
