Vinay Bahl, associate professor of sociology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been appointed to serve as an external examiner for a South African university study. The Department of Industrial Psychology and People Management at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, appointed Bahl as the external examiner for a master’s degree study for 2013.

David R. Cotner has been named assistant dean in the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Prior to his appointment, Cotner served as department head in the college’s welding department. “We are very pleased to have Dave Cotner join the leadership team in Industrial and Engineering Technologies,” said Paul L.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 12 for Steve Hirsch, a retired full-time faculty member in Penn College's Department of Art and Design, who died Friday, Jan. 4. He retired in 2007 as an assistant professor of advertising art after 15 years of teaching in the School of Integrated Studies' Graphic Design program. The service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pajama Factory, 1307 Park Ave.

Frosty winds howled at the doors of the Community Arts Center on Dec. 22, but new Pennsylvania College of Technology graduates and their families were safe inside – bathed in the warmth of accomplishment.
