A baking and pastry arts instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology was selected to compete in the final round of the second annual America's Best Raisin Bread Contest, sponsored by the California Raisin Marketing Board. Chef Charles R. Niedermyer, instructor of baking and pastry arts/culinary arts, will join 29 other bakers at the American Institute of Baking in Manhattan, Kan., Oct.
Douglas M. Sherry, part-time instructor of sociology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently published two book reviews. His review of "Heartland TV: Prime Time Television and the Struggle for U.S. Identity," a book written by Victoria E. Johnson and published by New York University Press, 2008, appeared in the Journal of Popular Culture in April.
A Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member's donation has pushed the total of gifts to The Penn College Fund Employee Campaign to a new record. Steven R. Parker, assistant professor of physics, recently donated $1,664 to The Penn College Fund.
William J. Astore, associate professor of history and a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, was a guest Monday morning on the "Lionel" radio show on Air America. During the interview, which aired live, Lionel questioned Astoreabout the U,S, military and his recent article, "Whatever Happened to Gary Cooper?" Chris E. Kule, assistant professor of biology (anatomy/physiology) at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was selected for inclusion in the 2010 Edition of "Who's Who in America." The 2010 Edition which is scheduled for publication in October will feature more than 95,000 of the nation's highest achievers: from business and politics to health care and science, to entertainment and the arts.
Pennsylvania College of Technology has reorganized its Business Affairs operations to address organizational growth and an evolving business structure. Effective Sept. 1, Suzanne T. Stopper has been named vice president for finance, chief financial officer. Her responsibilities include Financial Operations, long-range financial planning, procurement services, auditing and budget development.
