Academic Journals Publish Faculty Member's Book Reviews

Douglas M. SherryDouglas M. Sherry, part-time instructor of sociology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently published two book reviews.

His review of "Heartland TV: Prime Time Television and the Struggle for U.S. Identity," a book written by Victoria E. Johnson and published by New York University Press, 2008, appeared in the Journal of Popular Culture in April. The Journal of Popular Culture, printed bimonthly, is the official publication of the Popular Culture Association.

Sherry's review of "Are We There Yet? The Golden Age of American Family Vacations," a book written by Susan S. Rugh and published by University Press of Kansas, 2008, was published in H-Childhood in September. H-Childhood is an edited electronic network co-sponsored by the Society for the History of Children and Youth and H-Net. Sherry's review was commissioned by the society.

Sherry holds a doctorate from the University of Maryland. He earned a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin and a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Albany.
