It's never too early to begin exploring career possibilities for children, and parents of middle-school students will enjoy a unique opportunity when Pennsylvania College of Technology offers a "Parent Career Fair" on Oct. 21. The event, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
Chef Joseph Poon, owner of Joseph Poon Asian Fusion Restaurant, will prepare the Distinguished Visiting Chef Series Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The dinner, which costs $125 per guest, will begin at 7 p.m. at the College's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant. Net proceeds will be used for annual scholarship awards and endowed scholarship funds.
Join Chris Norris, state president of The Ancient Order of Hibernians of America, and James C. McMahon, College controller, for the story of their travels through Ireland in a program to be held in the Penn College Library from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20. The Office of Instructional Technology & Distance Learning is sponsoring participation in the Teaching Online in Higher Education Conference. This year's theme is "Politics, Ethics and Online Instruction." Offered entirely via the Internet, TOHE features presentations and discussions on topics that are quickly becoming the focus of debates on many campuses. The conference will be held Nov.
Penn College's award-winning, national public television series "You're the Chef" will be the focus of WVIA-TV's " State of Pennsylvania " program from 7-8 p.m. Thursday. "You're the Chef" hosts Chef Paul Mach and Tom Speicher, along with School of Hospitality students Rachel Hall and Christine Faherty, will be on hand to discuss the series' seventh season, which premieres at 12:30 p.m.
A College-record turnout of 300 donors is sought for today's Red Cross Bloodmobile, which willvisit Penn's Inn (CC, second floor) from 9:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m. Many ask, "What good can I do?" Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold Fall Visitation Day for prospective students and their families as well as other visitors who wish to learn more about the College on Sunday, Oct. 24. It is not necessary to pre-register, but those who register online by Oct. 18 will receive a suggested schedule of activities in order to make the most of their time on campus.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend,and enter a vehicle in,the Penn College Auto Show,which will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9,at the College West Apartments parking lot. Registration for show entries will begin at 3 p.m.
Penn College enjoyed another successful race weekend for an excellent cause: the local chapter of the American Red Cross. John Macko, Wayne Smith and Howard Troup prepared two highly tuned karts for the race, which will be their last as the torch is being passed to others to carry forth.
