Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold Fall Visitation Day for prospective students and their families as well as other visitors who wish to learn more about the College on Sunday, Oct. 24. It is not necessary to pre-register, but those who register online by Oct. 18 will receive a suggested schedule of activities in order to make the most of their time on campus.
Classrooms and laboratories in the College's eight academic schools Business and Computer Technologies, Construction and Design Technologies, Health Sciences, Hospitality, Industrial and Engineering Technologies, Integrated Studies, Natural Resources Management, and Transportation Technology will be open for tours, demonstrations and a variety of activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In each school, "Meet the Dean" sessions will begin at noon and 1 p.m. to allow guests to ask questions and receive additional information about the programs of study.
Information sessions focused on admissions, financial aid and academic affairs will be held in the morning. Sessions for those planning to enroll in Fall 2005 will be offered on the hour from 9 a.m. to noon in the Field House; for those planning to enroll in 2006 or later, sessions will be offered on the hour from 10 a.m. to noon in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium. Campus tours, led by Student Ambassadors, will follow each session.
Those who are undecided about a career or college major are invited to attend a session on "Choosing a Major," which will be offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Penn's Inn on the second floor of the Bush Campus Center. Counseling/Career and Disability Services also will be available in Room 204 of the Campus Center for those seeking to learn more about careers, internships and co-ops, job-search assistance and services for students with disabilities. Disability Services will offer sessions at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Room 201 of the Campus Center regarding accommodations for students with disabilities.
Student-housing sessions will provide an overview of on-campus facilities and the housing-application process; sessions will begin on the hour from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student and Administrative Services Center Presentation Room. Tours of on-campus apartments will begin at the main entrance of each complex throughout the day. An "Off-Campus Housing Expo" in the Student and Administrative Services Center Testing Lab will allow students to meet local landlords and view off-campus rental properties.
Student organizations will offer displays around campus and operate food fund-raisers. The athletic director will be available in the Fitness Center on the second floor of the Campus Center to answer questions about Wildcat sports teams.
The College Library will provide a "rest stop" for visitors, with music, refreshments, tours and displays including a model of the soon-to-be-constructed Roger and Peggy Madigan Library. Parents and guests who attended Penn College and its forerunners, Williamsport Area Community College and Williamsport Technical Institute, are invited to stop by the library to register with the Office of Alumni Relations.
Guests are invited to eat and shop on campus. Six Food Services facilities will be open, including the Susquehanna Room in the Hager Lifelong Education Center, which will offer a breakfast buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Le Jeune Chef, the School of Hospitality's fine-dining restaurant, will serve breakfast and brunch prepared by students. Breakfast selections will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; a Brunch Buffet will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Call (570) 327-4776 for reservations. The College Store in Room 101 of the Bush Campus Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Free shuttle buses will be available to transport guests around the main campus. Free bus transportation also will take guests between the main campus and the Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood and the Lumley Aviation Center at the Williamsport Regional Airport in Montoursville. The Advanced Automotive Technology Center, located at 2241 Wahoo Drive in Williamsport, also will be open. Tours and informational displays will be available at all sites.
