The Financial Aid Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer two free sessions on the main campus in Williamsport in March and April to help students, prospective students and families complete the 2015-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Moderator James E. Cunningham, retired vice president for information technology and business process improvement, notes that campus lectures will continue as the Dan Doyle Science, Technology and Society Colloquia Series. Doyle, faculty emeritus and the college's Master Teacher in 1984, was a driving force behind the college's just-ended Centennial celebration.

On Saturday, March 21, Pennsylvania College of Technology will be a host site for Sealant Saturday, an event that provides free oral screening, sealants and education for children ages 7-15. Sealant Saturday is an initiative of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association, with events held across the state. The Penn College activity is scheduled 9 a.m.

Diesel equipment technology instructor David C. Burns, as well as laboratory technician Ken J. Bashista, also helped with the testing.

Faculty members, alumni and students alike attend ShmooCon2015. A sizable Penn College contingent attended ShmooCon, the East Coast "hacker" convention, held Jan. 16-18 at the Washington (D.C.) Hilton. Three faculty members in the School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies – along with 11 graduates, 18 current students and a former student – were among those attending.

A recent talk and "meet the artist" reception showcased the work of Amanda McCavour, a Toronto-based textile artist whose wall pieces and installations are on exhibit in The Gallery at Penn College through March 5. McCavour also led an extensive workshop in the Thompson Professional Development Center on the day following her Jan.

Explorations in intricacy grace The Gallery at Penn College for its New Year exhibit, “Line: Drawn and Stitched,” running Jan. 13 through March 5.

Blood drive nets 227 pints for Red Cross, $908 for THON This week's two-day campus visit by the Red Cross Bloodmobile collected 227 pints (120 on Tuesday and 107 the following afternoon), topping the 190-unit goal in spite of a Wednesday snowstorm.

Observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day with an appearance at Penn College, a celebrated poet, memoirist and teacher enlisted fervent voices for a national dialogue about racism and other manifestations of hatred.
