A reception for “Books Undone 2: The Art of Altered Books” was enjoyed by nearly 100 people on Sunday. The national juried exhibition is on display through July 21 in The Gallery at Penn College. Awards were presented to six of the 41 exhibiting artists from 20 states.

The Dr. Welch Workshop: A Makerspace at Penn College partnered recently with Remake Learning Days, an innovative learning festival for families and youth. A professional development workshop for public school educators was offered on May 15, and an open maker night for families was available on May 16.

Before diving into summer, Penn College News takes a look back at a spring semester highlight: the two-week visit by our new friends from Northern Ireland's North West Regional College. The contingent of 12 students and two faculty members visited Penn College early last month. Half of the group is studying cybersecurity at NWRC, with the others focused on engineering.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students reaped the benefits of their hands-on education and tireless dedication by finishing fourth out of 89 cars in the Baja SAE Williamsport endurance race, the international competition’s premier event. Overall, the team placed 10th out of the 102 teams competing. Those teams consisted of about 1,800 students representing colleges and universities from throughout the United States, Canada and Brazil.

The exhilarating world of off-road racing captivated competitors and fans at Baja SAE Williamsport, hosted by Pennsylvania College of Technology May 16-19. Attracting 102 collegiate engineering teams from across the U.S., Canada and Brazil, the event concluded Sunday afternoon with an awards ceremony following the competition’s signature event, the four-hour endurance race. Penn College's team finished an impressive fourth in the final contest and 10th overall.

’Twas the night before Baja, and Penn College's main campus in Williamsport was hopping with pre-competition excitement. Penn College’s Baja SAE team members were stoked to welcome the visitors and proud to show off their labs, including the Baja Room. Guests were impressed.

Baja SAE Williamsport is poised to “put Pennsylvania and Williamsport on the map,” according to the dean of engineering technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Follow the transformation of Penn College's 125-acre Heavy Construction Equipment Operations Site from a wide-open training space to the competition playground where 100 teams will battle it out for top bragging rights. The video shows how Penn College faculty, staff and students, as well as corporate partners, prepared the college’s site at Brady Township for the competition that will take single-seat, off-road vehicles through various challenges, including a four-hour endurance race.

On the eve of their Saturday commencement ceremony, 12 students completing their bachelor’s degrees in architecture & sustainable design presented their culminating works in The Gallery at Penn College. The reception included family members, faculty, classmates, alumni and industry professionals. Each graduating senior was tasked with the design and development of a significant building in a location of their choice.
