Pennsylvania College of Technology graduate Christopher C. Rutledge, a collegiate soccer player and all-around sports enthusiast, chose his degree without imagining that it would lead to work that so closely relates to his lifelong pastime, let alone that his first full-time job would be with his favorite NFL team.

Pennsylvania College of Technology President Davie Jane Gilmour has been appointed vice chair of President’s Council for the North Eastern Athletic Conference. A dozen of Penn College’s athletic teams compete in the NEAC, and Gilmour’s work with the council has included service on its committees for strategic planning and sportsmanship.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Wildcat Athletics teams will compete as full members of NCAA Division III when students return this fall. The NCAA Division III Management Council notified Penn College on Thursday that it has successfully completed the provisional membership process.

In its 15th season under coach Chad Karstetter, the Wildcats competed last weekend at the season-ending outdoor national championships in Chula Vista, California, where the men's bowhunter team placed first, one archer earned All-American honors and the team ended eighth in the country for the second year in a row.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team is packing its uniforms away after a second-place finish Sunday in the North Eastern Athletic Conference championships while the college’s archery team is heading to the outdoor national championships.

Over the past weekend, the season ended for the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team while it was extended for the baseball squad. Softball Competing Friday and Saturday in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships, the Wildcats went 1-2 in their second season under coach Jackie Klahold to complete a 21-13 overall campaign, 17-8 in all NEAC games.

Downtown Williamsport is one of seven stops during the fifth annual Penn State Coaches Caravan, which begins May 8 with a sold-out event in York and includes a May 11 evening reception at The Genetti Hotel and a program at the adjacent Community Arts Center.

Despite a 4-4 week, the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s softball team is headed to this weekend’s North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs while the college’s tennis teams wrapped up their seasons this past weekend. Softball Hosting Keuka College in NEAC play on Monday, the Wildcats dropped both games, losing the first 6-2 and the second 4-2.
