The association representing alumni of Pennsylvania College of Technology and its predecessors − the Williamsport Area Community College and the Williamsport Technical Institute − has established an endowed fund to award annual scholarships for children and grandchildren of the graduates of those institutions.

Kirby O. Smith, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Susquehanna Health System, has been honored with the Outstanding Alumnus Award for 2000 at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The award was presented Saturday, May 13, at the College's morning commencement ceremonies in the Community Arts Center in Williamsport.

The first five graduates of Pennsylvania College of Technology's diesel technology/Mack emphasis major recently were honored by Mack Trucks, Inc. at its headquarters in Allentown. Penn College and Mack launched the diesel technology/Mack emphasis major in the fall of 1997.

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology auto body technology graduates are fine-tuning their skills with BMW of North America, Inc. Thomas Pardoe, Forksville, and Joshua Nyemscek, Emmaus, are enrolled in BMW's Service Technician Education Program. Each year, BMW only accepts eight students from North America for the training.

Loyalsock Township residents Ronald C. Jr. and Sharon Engel Clapper were honored as Pennsylvania College of Technology's 1999 Alumni of the Year during the College's commencement exercises, held Saturday, May 15, in the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. The Clappers own 21st Century Signs, in Montoursville.

When Pennsylvania College of Technology opens its new Main Campus entrance next fall, the names of many men and women who have been associated with the College during its 85-year history will become part of the entrance walkway.
