Pennsylvania College of Technology held a commencement ceremony Saturday for nearly 250 students who petitioned to graduate following the Summer 2013 semester. The student speaker for the 11 a.m. proceedings in the Community Arts Center was Katherine P.

Pennsylvania College of Technology presented a Mentorship Award to alumnus Ronald A. Burger, co-owner of George Burger & Sons Inc. Garden Center in Luzerne County. The award was bestowed upon Burger by Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour during a Summer Commencement ceremony held at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport.

David R. Cotner has been appointed dean of the School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, succeeding William E. Mack, who is stepping down for health reasons. Cotner had served as assistant dean of the school since January. Stacey C. Hampton has been named to succeed him in that role.

Area health care providers and emergency responders, part-time Penn College faculty, and alumni shared their insights with students and others during Thursday visits to main campus. The day began at around 8:30 a.m., when pilot Eric Smith landed Geisinger Health System's Life Flight 4 helicopter on the Madigan Library lawn.

Research conducted by a Pennsylvania College of Technology alumnus for his senior project was incorporated into a paper presented at a recent regional conference by a retired faculty member. The paper was presented by Asesh K. Das, who retired in August 2012 as a professor of computer science, and was written by him and Michael K.

One of the country's highest honors for wildfire prevention − named for one of its most recognizable public figures − has been presented to Paul M. Reier, a 34-year veteran of the Virginia Department of Forestry and a 1977 forest technology graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology predecessor Williamsport Area Community College.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has announced the 2013 inductees for its Athletics Hall of Fame. The class is the second to be inducted after being established in 2012 by Athletic Director Scott E. Kennell. “We have another great class of inductees,” Kennell said.
