For the second consecutive year, a contingent of students from Northern Ireland will visit Pennsylvania College of Technology as part of a cultural exchange program. Twelve students and two faculty from North West Regional College are scheduled to be in the area April 2-16 and spend most of that time on the Penn College campus.

"Concrete Science and Careers,” offered to K-12 FFA instructors by faculty experts from Pennsylvania College of Technology, is already yielding positive impacts – including plans for a more in-depth session for the teachers later this spring. Faculty offered instructor workshops on three Saturdays during the Pennsylvania FFA’s “Agricultural Cooperation Establishes Success” Leadership Conference near Harrisburg.

Seventeen employers traveled from across Pennsylvania to meet future nurses during Thursday’s Recruitment Day in the Advanced Technology & Health Sciences Center. Graduates of Penn College’s associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing are in demand as recruiters look to alleviate a nationwide shortage of nurses.

Positive reinforcement, fun and fundamentals are the foundations on which first-year coach David Straub began building the Pennsylvania College of Technology tennis program last fall and which he looks to continue this spring. The Wildcats open their season at 1 p.m. on Saturday, hosting King’s College at the Central Pennsylvania Tennis Center in South Williamsport.

Representatives from Klein Tools experienced Penn College’s electrical program on Wednesday. A Corporate Tomorrow Maker, the company plans to feature the Penn College footage on its website, YouTube channel and social media outlets. Klein Tools is building engagement with postsecondary students to combat the skills gap.

A $108,000 gift from The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation, of Harrisburg, has increased the foundation’s endowed scholarship to a balance of $3.9 million, the largest endowed scholarship at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Student recipients who meet selection criteria established by the college receive $5,000 per year – for up to four years – from the Stabler Scholarship Fund, the largest at the college.

Pennsylvania College of Technology student Kianna A. Rizzo, of Elysburg, is the third consecutive Penn College student to be selected for the American Society of Radiologic Technologists’ Student to Leadership Development Program. Each year, ASRT selects two students from each state for the three-year Student to Leadership Development Program.

Students in the Decorative Concrete class, taught by Joe F. DiBucci, recently visited Lycoming Vault & Precast in Montoursville. The company produces a variety of precast concrete products, from septic tanks to light pole bases. “Traveling to a precast concrete plant was a great opportunity for the students to be able to see a different side of the industry,” said DiBucci.

Penn College men’s basketball teammates Mason Chapman and Michael Woolridge have been named one of five national finalists for Team IMPACT Teammate of the Year. Voting is open on the Team IMPACT website and closes at midnight on March 20. In addition to voting for "Mason and Michael," supporters can view the nomination video submitted by Mason and his mother, Megan Rogers.
