A world-renowned cake decorator will sponsor the first "CalJava Wedding Cake Contest" at Pennsylvania College of Technology on May 1. Daniel Budiman, CEO of CalJava International the contest's sponsor and editor of Here Comes the Cake magazine, has earned fame for his unique wedding-cake designs.
The next session of "Project Choice," a free program at Pennsylvania College of Technology that provides assistance for adults considering a career change, will begin April 10. Offered by the Counseling, Career and Disability Services Office at Penn College, Project Choice provides comprehensive career exploration for anyone wishing to forge a new career path.
Four architectural technology majors are the winners of the 2006 "Strongest Bridge" contest: Corey N. Andreas, of Bloomsburg; Ryan L. Lewis, of Abbottstown; Matthew C.Toth, of Lancaster;and Henrik L. Berger, of RR 1, Huntingdon. Their bridge, made of construction paper and glue as outlined in the annual competition, weighed .35 of a pound and carried 136.2 pounds 389 times its weight!
Four Pennsylvania College of Technology students earned gold medals in this month's competition at the Pennsylvania SkillsUSA Conference in Lancaster, qualifying them for national competition in Kansas City, Mo., in June. Nine of 17 Penn College competitors brought home medals in the statewide competition, which was held March 13-15 at the Willow Valley Resort and Conference Center.
Pennsylvania College of Technology women's softball coach Roger Harris has seven returnees on his 12-player roster and he's confident that good things lie ahead for his squad this season. Pennsylvania College of Technology's Student Government Association voted unanimously in front of a packed room of approximately 60 students at its March senate meeting to support the recently proposed rental-inspection ordinance for the City of Williamsport. "We are in favor because we feel that safety is something worth paying for," said SGA President Sabrena A.
Kirk M. Cantor, professor of plastics and polymer technology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will be honored for the second time in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." Cantor's biography will appear in the 10th edition of the book, to be published later this year, and also appeared in the book's ninth edition, published in 2005.
The person sought in connection with numerous "swindle" reports was taken into custody Monday afternoon in the 800 block of West Third Street by the Williamsport Bureau of Police after officers were alerted by Pennsylvania College of Technology students.
