The Teachers' Learning Center in the Madigan Library offers quiet and comfortable surroundings for reading, collaborating with students or colleagues, searching on computers, or previewing a video or DVD. The shelves are filled with books, journals and magazines with a pedagogical focus, offering the newest information on teaching and learning.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Fall 2006 Arts and Lecture Series gets under way Oct. 10 with comedian Melanie Reno, who will share the compelling story of her battle with alcohol abuse while a college student. Reno's "College Lush Tour" performance, which begins at 8 p.m. in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium, is also part of Alcohol Awareness Week activities at Penn College.

Representatives of The H&K Group delivered a scholarship donation by helicopterSept. 27, attracting a curious crowd asthe aircraftlanded on the SASC lawn. The Skippack-based company also was on campus to interview students for summer internships and other positions.

Breakfast and brunch, prepared by Pennsylvania College of Technology students, returns to the School of Hospitality's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant on Sundays and Mondays beginning Oct. 1. "Our Breakfast and Brunch class concentrates on one of our industry's favored styles of service: the brunch buffet," said Chef Judy P. Shimp, associate professor of hospitality management/culinary arts.

A national trade organization recently awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Burton T. Maines Jr., of Williamsport, an HVAC technology major at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Maines is among recipients in The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute's 2006 Clifford H. "Ted" Rees Jr.

Junior Achievement of Northeastern Pennsylvania is offering a new take on a familiar game, with the release of the Lycomingopoly board game.
