The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation of Harrisburg is providing a new gift of $500,000 to Pennsylvania College of Technology, bringing the total of its scholarship support to students to $2.75 million.

This latest gift from the foundation will help full-time students in several categories achieve their higher-education goals. The Stabler Scholarship Fund Endowment is the largest endowed fund at Penn College, a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University.

Beginning this fall, the college will offer renewable support from the Stabler Scholarship Fund: $5,000 per year for scholarship recipients for up to four years.

With scholarship support totaling $2.75 million, The Stabler Scholarship Fund Endowment is the largest at Pennsylvania College of Technology.Penn College has established eligibility criteria requiring that students demonstrate financial need and either be enrolled in Associate of Applied Science degree programs that are nontraditional for their gender, transferring to Penn College from other schools, or matriculating to the college after participating in the nationally accredited Penn College NOW dual enrollment program in high school. Penn College NOW delivers college courses that are taught by approved teachers at high schools and career and technology centers statewide. There is no tuition cost to participating students.

“We are most grateful to The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation for once again supplementing the Stabler Scholarship Fund Endowment at Penn College,” said President Davie Jane Gilmour. “The foundation’s continuing generosity enables us to provide renewable scholarships to students who are in need, so that they may pursue their educational goals at Penn College. Scholarship support is crucial to the success of these students, who will become tomorrow makers in the workforce and their respective communities following graduation, helping to address critical skills-gap shortages in a range of industries and professions.”

The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation was established in 1966 exclusively for charitable, religious, scientific, literary or educational purposes. Scholarships recipients are asked to sign a debt of conscience, agreeing to pay forward the amounts they receive, when able, after graduation.
