The Student Government Association at Pennsylvania College of Technology will host its annual Silent Auction on Friday, April 28, to benefit the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship Fund.The auction will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the first floor of Madigan Library. All proceeds from the event – which is open to the public – will go directly toward increasing the endowment of the fund, which currently awards two $1,000 scholarships annually to students who play leadership roles at the college.
“The Student Government Association’s annual Silent Auction is just one of many great examples of Penn College students supporting one another,” said Anthony J. Pace, director of student activities. “The auction is a big undertaking, but SGA members know the impact scholarships like the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship can have on their fellow students.”
SGA is accepting items for the Silent Auction until a week prior, and has already received many contributions from students, employees and alumni. Past years’ donations have included gift baskets, handcrafted items and framed artwork, and gift cards for goods and services. To donate or arrange pickup of an item for the auction, email SGA.“Each year, SGA puts months of time and effort into organizing a successful Silent Auction,” Pace continued. “It is truly amazing to see the organization, the Penn College community and local businesses come together to support student leaders.”
Individuals may also support the event by attending or by donating directly to the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship Fund online or by calling the Institutional Advancement Office toll-free at 866-GIVE-2-PC (866-448-3272).The award criteria require the recipient to be enrolled full time with at least one academic year remaining, and carry a GPA of at least 3.0. The fund is already fully endowed, but SGA’s goal is to provide even larger annual scholarships to students.
