Silent Auction to Benefit College’s Student Leadership Scholarship
Tuesday, April 12, 2016
The Student Government Association at Pennsylvania College of Technology will host its seventh annual Silent Auction on Friday, April 29, to benefit the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship Fund.
The auction will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the first floor of Madigan Library. All proceeds from the event – which is open to the public – will go directly toward increasing the endowment of the fund, which currently awards two $1,000 scholarships annually to students who play leadership roles at the college.
“The Student Government Association’s Silent Auction is a collaborative effort between the organization and the Penn College community. This great event helps to benefit student leaders who consistently give back to our institution,” said Anthony J. Pace, assistant director of student activities for student organizations and orientation. “SGA members work tirelessly to plan, organize and implement a successful auction each year. I have no doubt that this year’s auction will be the best yet!”
SGA is accepting items for the Silent Auction until a week prior, and has already received many contributions from students, employees and alumni. Past years’ donations have included gift baskets, handcrafted items and framed artwork, and gift cards for goods and services. To donate or arrange pickup of an item for the auction, email SGA.
Individuals may also support the event by attending or by donating directly to the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship Fund.
“The Silent Auction is the biggest event that SGA puts together and one we look forward to all year,” said Meagan L. Dosch, a business administration: marketing concentration major from Aspers and the organization’s vice president of public relations. “We are honored to provide items to the community, while impacting those students who receive the scholarship. We greatly appreciate the donations made from everyone in and outside of the school, as it's a great way to bring everyone together.”
The fund will also benefit from two rolling toolboxes donated to The College Store by Snap-on. Each of the tool chests is valued at $1,500 and will be raffled at $5 a ticket, with the winners to be announced at the Silent Auction. Proceeds will be split between the SGA Leader Legacy Scholarship Fund and The College Store Scholarship Fund.
