The anticipated total is a substantial increase over the $600 raised last year, thanks to more than 50 donors bidding on more than 75 items. Included were a wooden playhouse donated by the School of Construction & Design Technologies, a dump truckload of firewood (delivery included within 20 miles!) donated by the Schneebeli Earth Science Center sawmill, painted pottery by Penn College students and faculty, handcrafted woodwork and jewelry, and a "Movie Night" basket created by employees of the host venue. Institutional Advancement and the Madigan Library - the new location for this year's auction - were also deemed integral in making the event a success. More than $250 of the money raised will go toward a student-initiated Minority Student Scholarship that is in the works; the balance benefits the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship, awarded by SGA each year to students who display exemplary leadership at Penn College.
