Monday, March 17, 2014

PGA Tour professional and Lewisburg native Jason Bohn will headline the 28th Annual Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation Golf Classic, to be held on Monday, June 23, at the Williamsport Country Club.

Proceeds from the event, sponsored by Wolyniec Construction Inc., benefit the Penn College Foundation Golf Classic Scholarship – a quasi-endowed scholarship fund exceeding $1 million.

Since the first awards from the fund were made in 1990, more than $500,000 has been distributed to students enrolled at Penn College.

At the Foundation Golf Classic, Bohn will conduct a clinic for participants in the morning and then play a portion of one hole with each foursome during the tournament. Afterward, a reception and dinner will be held on Penn College’s campus, giving participants and their guests more time to interact with Bohn.

Jason BohnBohn, who played his college golf at the University of Alabama, turned pro in 1992. He is the winner of two PGA Tour events: the B.C. Open in 2005 and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2010. In 2009, he lost a three-way playoff in the Wyndham Championship. He has won six tournaments overall as a professional.

He is co-holder of the record for the lowest round in professional golf history – a 58 recorded at the 2001 Canadian Tour’s Bayer Championship. He won $1 million after making a hole-in-one at a charity fundraiser tournament in 1992 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Bohn surpassed $10 million in career earnings in 2013. He currently ranks 30th in the 2014 FedExCup standings.

In February, Bohn was elected chairman of the Player Advisory Council by the PGA Tour’s membership for 2014. The 16-member PAC advises and consults with the PGA Tour Policy Board and Commissioner Tim Finchem on issues affecting the tour.

Bohn will succeed Jim Furyk on the PGA Tour Policy Board in 2015 and will a serve a three-year term (2015-17) as a player director along with current Policy Board members Harrison Frazar (2013-15), Bo Van Pelt (2014-16) and Mark Wilson (2014-16). Bohn resides in Acworth, Ga., with his wife, Tewana, and their two sons.

This year’s Golf Classic event will feature a unique activity and gift as part of Penn College’s Centennial, which is being celebrated throughout 2014.
