Thursday, October 3, 2013

As part of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Scholarship Campaign, Robert G. Feaster, a 1973 alumnus, has committed to funding an endowed scholarship over the next five years.

When fully endowed, the Robert Feaster Family Scholarship will benefit full-time students enrolled in the School of Construction & Design Technologies who demonstrate financial need and academic performance.

Feaster earned an associate degree in arts and sciences from Penn College’s immediate predecessor, Williamsport Area Community College. In 1977, he founded Robert Feaster Corp., of Northumberland, which provides construction services statewide.

Robert Feaster, founder of Robert Feaster Corp., of NorthumberlandRobert Feaster Corp. has completed several projects at Penn College, including renovations at the Klump Academic Center and Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, as well as construction of the Center for Business & Workforce Development facility and the fountains at the college’s main entrance on Maynard Street in Williamsport.

In 2005, Feaster received the Distinguished Alumnus Award, which is given in recognition of personal and professional accomplishments, contributions toward furthering the efforts of the college, and the high regard in which the recipient is held in the community.

Feaster is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Penn College Foundation.

“We’re extremely grateful to Bob for establishing this scholarship,” said Robb Dietrich, executive director of the Penn College Foundation. “Bob has a tremendous history with the college, from his days as a student, to the work his company has done as the campus has expanded, to his service as a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Now, his name will be forever linked to the institution through this perpetual scholarship.”

“I am happy to create an opportunity for future students to earn a degree from Penn College,” Feaster said. “Not only is Penn College unique in offering ‘degrees that work’ in a vast array of fields, but a majority of their graduates reinvest that knowledge and skill set back into the local community and economy. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

The Penn College Scholarship Campaign is an initiative to raise at least $3.75 million for scholarships in conjunction with the college’s Centennial Celebration in 2014.
