Golf Outing Boosts Marcellus Measurement Scholarship Fund

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

A Williamsport man who established a scholarship at Pennsylvania College of Technology last year recently added to the fund.

Ryan A. English presented a check to Penn College to add to the Marcellus Measurement Scholarship Fund, which is growing toward endowment. Once the fund reaches endowment level, it will become a perennial source of scholarship funds.

The check for nearly $10,000 represents the proceeds from a golf outing English coordinates at the Tyoga Country Club to raise funds for the scholarship. Various individuals and business groups in the natural gas industry participated as sponsors and players.

Ryan A. English presents a check for the Marcellus Measurement Scholarship Fund to Debra M. Miller, Penn College’s director of corporate relations.“The success that we have seen is a true testament to everyone involved,” English said. “Our sponsors, the participants and Penn College all play a significant role. We look forward to continuing to help the students of this excellent institution for many years to come.”

The scholarship targets support to students in the college’s electronics and computer engineering technology majors.

Any full-time or part-time students in either the bachelor-degree or associate-degree majors in electronics and computer engineering technology may apply for an award from the Marcellus Measurement Scholarship Fund if they have completed at least two semesters of study with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

English, who is northeast director of business development for Rod’s Production Services LLC, chose to establish the scholarship after working with assistant professor Randall L. Moser, other faculty and students in Penn College’s electronics and computer engineering technology department.

“We sincerely appreciate Ryan’s efforts in establishing this scholarship to benefit our students,” said Debra M. Miller, director of corporate relations at Penn College. “The Marcellus Measurement Scholarship will help many students meet the cost of their college education over the coming years. We are grateful for Ryan’s support and his enthusiasm for Penn College and our programs.”
