Henry J. StutzA new scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology honoring a Linden-area man and his wife will support students in the college's business administration bachelor-degree majors.

The Henry and Donna Stutz Scholarship Fund was established by The Hartman Group, a company consisting of The Hartman Agency Inc., Hartman Employee Benefits Inc. and Hartman Financial Services, operating out of offices in Williamsport, State College and Duncannon. The scholarship honors the former president of The Hartman Group and his wife.

Henry J. "Hank" Stutz, a Shamokin native, joined The Hartman Group in 1974 and served as the company's president from 1986 until his retirement in 2002. Among Stutz's professional achievements is co-chairing, with former state Sen. Roger A. Madigan, the Workers Compensation Reform Task Force, leading to enactment of Act 44, a major reform of Pennsylvania's worker compensation system. He is also the originator of several successful group insurance programs for local trade associations, including the West Branch Manufacturers' Association.

"Hank Stutz is very committed to a technical, knowledge-based approach to property and casualty insurance and to the development of knowledge within the insurance industry," said Michael P. Gaetano, president of The Hartman Agency Inc. "His devotion to education in the industry is now further extended to a college scholarship fund to recognize him and his wife, Donna, in support of students at Penn College."

The Hartman Group fully endowed the Henry and Donna Stutz Scholarship to make it a perpetual source of scholarships to be awarded annually.

"This scholarship will provide significant financial assistance to our students at a time when that support is critical for many to be able to continue their education at Penn College," said Barry R. Stiger, the college's vice president for institutional advancement. "We're grateful for this support from The Hartman Group, and we're pleased that Hank and Donna are being recognized with this scholarship."

The Henry and Donna Stutz Scholarship Fund will begin to generate awards for the 2012-13 academic year. Preference will be given to students who are residents of Lycoming or Centre counties who demonstrate academic performance and financial need, and who are enrolled full time or part time in a business administration bachelor-degree major with a concentration in banking and finance, management or marketing, or with a declared minor in business administration or financial planning.
