Wednesday, October 19, 2011
The Grainger Foundation has donated $10,000 to the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation for scholarship awards.
The donation from the Grainger Foundation has been distributed as five scholarship awards of $2,000 each to current students in the manufacturing engineering technology, welding and fabrication engineering technology, HVAC design technology, construction management, and diesel technology majors at Penn College.
"We are grateful to the Grainger Foundation for its generosity in providing scholarship support for the students at Penn College," said Debra M. Miller, the college's director of corporate relations. "Scholarship support is an excellent way to directly assist our students by helping them cover the costs of their education."
The Grainger Foundation is an independent, private foundation based in Lake Forest, Ill. It was established in 1949 by William W. Grainger, founder of W.W. Grainger Inc., a broad-line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating products for businesses and institutions.
The donation came at the recommendation of Mindy Cronk, branch manager of the company's Scranton location.
"We are proud to recommend the programs offered by Penn College," Cronk said. "We understand the need for technical education in the local community."
