Frank Pellegrino, executive vice president of PRIMUS Technologies Corp., Williamsport, recently made a gift to the Penn College Foundation to establish the John Joseph and Eva Girio Pellegrino Scholarship Fund.

Penn College will start making awards from the John Joseph and Eva Girio Pellegrino Scholarship in the 2011-12 academic year. It is anticipated the endowment will generate initial awards of $1,000 annually.

The fund will target students from Lycoming County who are enrolled full time in any major in Penn College's School of Hospitality or School of Business and Computer Technologies.

"I was very fortunate to grow up with a mother and father that taught me respect, the power and value of an education, and the responsibility of serving and assisting others. I owe my success in life to the values that I learned from my parents and grandparents," Pellegrino said. "It is my hope that this scholarship, established in their honor, will touch the lives of others in a positive and productive way."

"We are grateful for Frank's generosity in establishing this scholarship to honor his parents," said Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour. "Scholarship support has a direct impact on the lives of Penn College students and, in many cases, can be the difference for a student facing the challenges of paying for his or her education."

Penn College is a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University, committed to applied technology education. Nearly 6,300 students are enrolled in bachelor-degree, associate-degree and certificate majors relating to more than 100 career areas.
