Architecture Odyssey
Summer Camp
Journey with architecture professors into the wonderful world of architecture and sustainable design. Experience the richness of architectural past, present, and future. Participants are encouraged to bring their curiosity and creativity as they learn about the built environment and develop an appreciation for and the skills necessary to produce a sustainable future. Activities include design studio, workshops, seminars, field trips to building sites, and visits with local architects.
Summer Camps
July 14-18, 2024
Age Group: Students entering grades 10-12
Fee: TBD
Includes all activities, meals, and on-campus housing. This program includes an off-campus outing; participants will need to bring spending money for ice cream (tentative).
Registration for 2025 will open in February.
Field Trips/Special Events
Students will tour the Penn College campus, downtown Williamsport, and the historic district. A site visit to Larson Design Group is also included along with dinner at Stone House Pizza.

Architecture Odyssey Workshops
Introduction to the Architectural Profession
What is architecture and the role of an architect? Participants will learn about architecture and its relationship to other construction-related professions. They will explore educational opportunities, potential career paths, and licensing requirements. Highlights include a visit to an architect’s office and a construction site.
Introduction to Architectural Software Systems
In order to create and illustrate architectural designs, it is important to know basic drawing techniques. Participants will learn how to use several currently popular mediums including SketchUp and Photoshop.
The Design Studio
Do you love buildings? Do you think designing the layout of a building, its exterior appearance, and interior appointment is exciting? Then this workshop is for you! Participants will have the opportunity to learn the design process and create a building from initial concept to completion- including the presentation of their design.

Here's how it works:
- Complete a Summer Camp during the summer before entering 9-12 grade.
- Or better yet, come for two Summer Camps. Pick a different program the second time around or come for the same one twice. Each year we mix things up.
- Attend Penn College and receive $1,000 off your tuition each year if you came for one camp.
- Or, get $2,000 off your tuition each year if you join us for two camps.
