The second annual Rotorfest, hosted Tuesday by Pennsylvania College of Technology’s emergency management & homeland security major, is in the spotlight with a WNEP-TV report. The 48th annual National Collegiate Landscape Competition proved to be fertile territory for the talents of Pennsylvania College of Technology students enrolled in landscape/plant production technology. At the powerhouse event held in Provo, Utah, Penn College placed 16th overall among 50 schools and achieved eight top-10 finishes in various categories. One student was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Eleven Penn College academic programs opened their doors to about 200 dual-enrolled students – taking Penn College courses at their local high school or career and technical education center. The Penn College Dual Enrollment students hailed from 12 secondary schools that stretched from Chester County in the southeast corner of the state to Warren County in the northwest.

Representatives of the Tennessee Board of Regents, a partner with Penn College in providing apprenticeships, toured several advanced manufacturing labs during a visit to the college on Monday. The Tennessee Board of Regents is a system of 37 community and technical colleges; it is the largest system of higher education in Tennessee.

Cloudy skies didn’t dampen campus enthusiasm for the solar eclipse on Monday. Students, faculty and staff paused from their busy schedules to gaze at the rare celestial event. Physics faculty stationed themselves on the campus mall with telescope/projectors to offer a unique way to experience the eclipse.

April’s calendar is full of opportunity, with Career Services coordinating several “pop-up” employer recruitment events over the next few weeks. Three employers will locate around campus April 10-11, seeking tomorrow makers.

Penn College welcomed 537 prospective students and over 1,500 total guests on Sunday for the second Open House of the Spring 2024 semester. Sunny skies certainly boosted spirits and illuminated a gorgeous campus beginning to bloom in spring splendor. In addition to main campus, Penn College’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center and Lumley Aviation Center opened their awe-inspiring doors to future tomorrow makers.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has hired industry veteran Benjamin R. Thomas as its director of construction and planning. Thomas comes to Penn College from Weis Markets Inc., where he was manager of architecture, responsible for the company’s conceptual and architectural designs. Thomas graduated in 1999 from Penn College's architectural technology major.
