Select students at Pennsylvania College of Technology gained experience this summer helping on the set of "You're the Chef," an award-winning cooking series that airs nationally on public television.

The director of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Paramedic Program, a Navy Reservist, was called to active duty recently and is preparing for deployment to Iraq. Erich J. Frank, 39, of Williamsport, joined the Navy Reserves in October 2001. He serves as a hospital corpsman assigned to a Fleet Marine Force.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented Student Achievement Awardsto its August 2004 graduates. The award winners are: PRESIDENT'S AWARD, for leadership and service to the College: Sonya Kae Miller, Jersey Shore, Early Childhood Education. BOARD OF DIRECTORS' AWARD, for achievement under exceptional conditions: Kelly Marie Hagerman, Muncy, Human Services.

Stephen P. Legarski of Montoursville was commissioned as a second lieutenant inan Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps ceremony held Saturday, Aug. 7, at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Penn College President Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour delivered remarks at the ceremony, which took place at the Thompson Professional Development Center.

For the fifth consecutive year, Wine Spectator magazine has granted its "Best of Award of Excellence" to Pennsylvania College of Technology's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Workforce Development& Continuing Education will offer a one-day "Vision Impairment in Older Adults" workshop Friday, Oct. 15, to provide information and training to health-care professionals and others who work with older clients. The workshop will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Hatha yoga classes addressing three levels of practice will begin the week of Aug. 23 at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The three noncredit courses, which are being offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College, are for beginning intermediate and regular practitioners.

Anyone interested in learning the time-honored craft of woodworking may sign up for "Woodworking 101," a noncredit course offered through Workforce Development& Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The class will meet from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 19 to Sept. 30, at the Carl Building Technologies Center on Penn College's main campus in Williamsport.

The expanded site features the history, structure and function of the Governance system, as well as committee listings, functions, business and rosters. In the past few years, elections have been conducted through a pared-down version of the site. Future plans for the Web site include publication of monthly committee reports.
