About 85 area high school students attended Wednesday's "Job for a Day," hosted by the plastics and polymer technology department. Students visited plastics laboratories, toured campus and made products on the college's mobile plastics lab. The lab, made up of smaller versions of Penn College's industry-standard equipment, traveled to several high schools this year.

For the third time, Monica J. Lanczak, instructor of food and hospitality management/culinary arts at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will be honored in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." Lanczak's biography will appear in the ninth edition of the book, to be published in October. It also appeared in the 2002 and 2004 editions.

Two students from Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will be honored at a "Salute to Excellence" program in Chicago sponsored by a national trade association. Baking and pastry arts students at Pennsylvania College of Technology displayed some of their final works before graduation during the Grand Pastry Buffet, held recently as part of the Penn College Foundation's fifth annual Scholarship Reception.

Ethan G. Smith of Lititz, who will graduate Saturday with a degree in collision repair technology, is the first recipient of the Penn College collision repair department's Orelli Award for student service-adviser excellence. The award is sponsored by Rusty Orelli and Orelli's Supply Co., 192 Locust St., Williamsport, the PPG paint and materials supplier for the department's paint lab.

This year, the Campus Center Quiet Lounge and TV Lounge underwent a few changes. With new furniture and new technology, the Quiet Lounge became the TV Lounge. In addition to the big-screen TV, students now can enjoy their favorite programs on two other TVs, including a flat-screen plasma TV and an LCD projection screen.
