The Master Teacher Award, the highest level of recognition given to a Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member, was presented Saturday to Jeffrey B. Weaver, assistant professor of electronics in the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies at the college. Weaver received the award during commencement ceremonies at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport.

Two local teenagers spent part of a recent morning job-shadowing and touring the dining units on Pennsylvania College of Technology' s main campus in Williamsport as part of Lycoming County EmployAbililty Awareness Day. The college was among dozens of local businesses that offered job-shadowing opportunities.

Students from area high schools came to campus May 12 for The Plastics Experience. During their visit, they attended workshops in the college's plastics and polymer technology laboratories, and took part in a balloon launch.

Ten Pennsylvania College of Technology students scheduled to graduate this calendar year received "Penn College Awards" during a Thursday banquet at Le Jeune Chef Restaurant on the college's main campus in Williamsport. The awards, marking their 10th anniversary, recognize students who have made outstanding contributions to Penn College.

Later this summer, Information Technology Services will begin a major initiative to convert the campus network infrastructure from Novell to Microsoft. This conversion will affect network file storage, network printing and e-mail services. According to Jim Cunningham, chief technology officer, the move will improve the department's ability to respond to the campus' ever-changing IT needs.

Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Industrial Modernization Center have agreed to a partnership under which the college will provide management services for the IMC, a nonprofit, independent organization that helps small and medium-sized manufacturers in the region who want to be more innovative, productive, lean, competitive and profitable.

Pennsylvania College of Technology presented "Distinguished Staff" and "Part-Time Teaching Excellence" awards Thursday and honored retirees and the newest members of the college's "Quarter Century Club."
