Thirty-three new members have been inducted into the Pennsylvania Xi Chapter of Alpha Chi, open to all four-year majors and limited to the top 10 percent of juniors and seniors across the country. The baccalaureate students traditionally are honored for their superior academic performance in an on-campus ceremony, but the coronavirus outbreak resulted in cancellation of the planned April 4 event.

A memorial service will be scheduled for Irwin H. Siegel, 2005 recipient of Penn College's Master Teacher Award and a retired professor of business administration/business law, who died Sunday, April 12, at age 66. Siegel, a faculty member from 1998 through the 2007-08 academic year, also was honored with an Excellence in Teaching Award in 2001.

It wasn't remotely on his mind while taking a Mechanical Systems I class in Fall 2011, but a Pennsylvania College of Technology alumnus/employee's plumbing and pipe-fitting skills resulted in fabrication of framework for five EMS airway hoods to be used at Geisinger Medical Center. This semester’s Penn College ceramics students missed out on making bowls for Williamsport’s annual Soup and a Bowl event, an important fundraiser for the Central PA Food Bank. The campus community can help those students leave their legacy, however, by filling a virtual empty bowl with an online shopping trip to the food bank by May 8.

Pennsylvania College of Technology nursing student Connor J. Burke, of St. Clair, is among many in the Penn College family who are working on the health care "front lines" during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 20-year-old is a sophomore on the Penn College baseball team and is in his second year of study toward a bachelor's degree in nursing.
