Dental hygiene students and faculty from Pennsylvania College of Technology teamed with volunteer dental hygienists and dentists to provide free oral screenings, sealants and education for 79 children as part of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists' Association's statewide "Sealant Saturday" program on Feb. 3.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors will consider approving an oil-and-gas lease with East Resources Inc., of Allegany, N.Y. Without a quorum of directors present at Thursday's meeting, the action must be approved in writing, by unanimous consent, by the full board before taking effect, said E. Eugene Yaw, the college's general counsel.

More than 800 regional high school and middle school students and chapter advisers from 15 middle and senior high schools recently gathered on Pennsylvania College of Technology's main campus to compete in the Region 7 Future Business Leaders of America Conference.

The program to recycle printer and fax cartridges at Penn College has raised more than $2,800 for the general scholarship fund. The Penn College Foundation recently received the check for $429 from the Cartridge World store at 1818 E. Third St., in Williamsport, for empty inkjet, laser and fax-machine cartridges turned in by Penn College employees and students.

An alumnus and two faculty members of Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Business and Computer Technologies wrote papers that were presented at two international conferences in Orlando, Fla. Ryan K. Zimmerman, who graduated summa cum laude in Fall 2005 with a degree in computer information technology-data communications and networking, co-wrote the papers with Donald E.

The future Center for Business and Workforce Development at Penn College is progressing, with opening for its electronics and computer engineering technology classrooms slated in time for the start of Fall 2007 classes. Drywall is being installed, showing doorways and windows to future laboratories and faculty offices, and niches for lockers in hallways.

On Fridays during the spring semester, students taking courses in culinary arts at Pennsylvania College of Technology will help manage the kitchen in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant a live-learning lab for School of Hospitality students. The students, who are enrolled in the Regional American Cuisine course taught by Chef Michael J.
