Ryan F. Walls, a plastics and polymer engineering technology major from Mansfield, has been chosen as the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for March. An SGA senator from the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies, Walls was the first sophomore ever to be named "lead student engineer" for the college's Plastics Manufacturing Center.

After a successful fall campaign under first-year coach Chris Howard, the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team is set to resume its quest for a second straight conference championship.The Wildcats, who went 13-7 overall in the fall and 11-1 in Penn State University Athletic Conference games where they won the midseason tournament, are scheduled to open their spring season at 1 p.m.

The second annual "CalJava Wedding Cake Contest," conceived by prominent cake decorator Daniel Budiman for Pennsylvania College of Technology students, is scheduled for April 30 on the college's main campus in Williamsport. Budiman is CEO of CalJava International the contest's sponsor and editor of Here Comes the Cake magazine.

The Student Activities Office hosted the second annual "Awesome Women Exemplars" program in observance of Women's History Month on Tuesday night, honoring 39 women from the campus community during a reception in Penn's Inn. Employees who have made donations to Penn College over the past 18 months were the guests of honor at a reception in the Thompson Professional Development Center on Monday. The Institutional Advancement Office hosted the reception to say "Thank you" to employees who have donated to the Annual Fund, the Madigan Library Campaign and other fund-raising initiatives.

The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host "Applied Landscape," an exhibit by Millville artist Cynthia Harper, from April 10 to May 6. An opening reception for the exhibit will take place from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, with an artist's talk scheduled at 5:30 p.m.

Accomplished cake decorator Bartolo "Buddy" Valestro Jr., of Carlo's City Hall Bakery in Hoboken, N.J., offered a demonstration to students, alumni and the public Monday evening. Valestro remained on campus to work with cake-decorating classes Tuesday.
