Penn College students also may participate in all swimming classes, including water aerobics, aqua kickboxing and deepwater boot camp, free of charge.

"Welcome Weekend," a two-day get-acquainted program for new Penn College students, began Saturday morning. Two Pennsylvania College of Technology students reported being robbed at gunpoint at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at an off-campus apartment in the 1000 block of West Fourth Street, according to a Crime Alert from Penn College Police. The incident was reported to the Williamsport Bureau of Police,which is investigating. The students were not injured.

As a new academic year begins on campuses across the country, safety and security are on the minds of administrators, faculty, parents, students and the public. Last year's tragic events at Virginia Tech were a harsh reminder of potential dangers on college campuses and in all public places.
