As a longtime supporter of hands-on technology education, PPL Electric Utilities is donating $8,000 to assist area high school students taking college-credit courses at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

A $5,000 grant from the PPL Foundation will support an event at Pennsylvania College of Technology to introduce high school students to opportunities in the building automation and electrical industries. Pathways to Energy Management Careers will comprise a series of four hands-on sessions that showcase facets of those occupations, with a focus on energy management.

PPL Electric Utilities recently offered a Live Line Electrical Safety Exhibit and demonstration for students and first responders at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

PPL Electric Utilities is donating $8,000 through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program to Pennsylvania College of Technology in support of Penn College NOW, a dual enrollment program. The Penn College Foundation is approved as an Educational Improvement Organization under the EITC program administered by the state Department of Community & Economic Development.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s SMART Girls summer camp, which encourages high school-aged girls to continue challenging themselves in math and science at an age when many lose interest or confidence, convened last week. Among supporters of the weeklong program was PPL Electric Utilities. PPL donated $4,000 to the college through the state’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program.
