John W. “J.J.” Magyar II, a part-time/substitute faculty member in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s paramedic technology program, recently completed the requirements to maintain his designation as a Chief Fire Officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence. In addition to his work at Penn College, Magyar serves the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co.

Three people connected with the paramedic technology program at Pennsylvania College of Technology were honored at the Journal of Emergency Medical Services’ EMS Today national conference and expo, held March 5-9 in Washington, D.C. With a combined tenure of 26 years, women’s volleyball head coach Bambi A. Hawkins and men’s cross-country head coach Michael J. Paulhamus have announced their retirement from their respective positions at Pennsylvania College of Technology. “Both of these coaches have brought much success to Penn College,” said Director of Athletics Scott E. Kennell.

Katherine P. Wylezik, enrolled in the applied health studies: occupational therapy assistant concentration, has been chosen as the Student of the Month at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Wylezik, of Bernville, serves as a Community Assistant for off-campus housing and has been a Residence Life Office clerk for more than three years.

Four new programs in dynamic career fields – mechatronics, emergency management, applied technology and magnetic resonance imaging – will soon complement the list of more than 100 academic majors offered at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
