Hiring and job-placement rates for licensed practical nurses in Pennsylvania will remain strong, according to the 1997-98 Career Guide published by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
"Success is living your dreams every day," Chef John Folse told a crowd of young people who are dreaming of careers in the kitchen. Pennsylvania College of Technology's hospitality students and more than 150 high school students from across the state were treated to a motivational speech and cooking demonstration by Chef Folse on Friday, Feb. 6, in Penn College's Academic Center Auditorium.
Business and industry are increasingly turning to Pennsylvania College of Technology's Technology Transfer Center to provide technical training for employees. During the 1996-97 academic year, enrollment in TTC programming surged to over 6,100. At the beginning of the '90s, that figure totaled nearly 1,400, so the growing demand is evident.
A video produced by Pennsylvania College of Technology's Office of Instructional Technology and Media Services has captured an "Award of Distinction" in a national competition. "I think what will impact and change Pennsylvania College of Technology is the demand of the workforce, in terms of what kinds of programs and services students will need to go out and obtain gainful employment in the workforce. Ambience and atmosphere are good, but what is more important is friendly, comfortable service." Peter Hellermann, the new general manager at Pennsylvania College of Technology's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, believes hospitality is the key ingredient to restaurant success.
