"You're the Chef," Pennsylvania College of Technology's award-winning and Emmy-nominated cooking series on public television, has garnered another honor, this one for its Web site. The site which was designed by Penn College's Information Technology Services' Web Development Team earned a "Standard of Excellence" award in the Web Marketing Association's 2003 WebAward competition.

Enrollment at Pennsylvania College of Technology, a special-mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University, has established another record this fall.

Yes, it's true. For students, parents, teachers and others associated with education, autumn marks the start of a new year. We look forward to new people, new places and new possibilities.

"Boxes," an exhibit of works by Kathleen Kase Burk of Ebensburg, will be displayed Oct. 7-31 at The Gallery at Penn College on the campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology. The opening for the show will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Burk will offer an artist's talk at 5:15 p.m. Subsequent viewing hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or by appointment.

Pennsylvania College of Technology and its School of Hospitality will be satisfying appetites nationwide with a unique, tasty recipe a fresh season of the public television cooking series, "You're the Chef." The sixth season of the Emmy-nominated and Telly Award-winning "You're the Chef" begins in Northeastern and Northcentral Pennsylvania on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 12:30 p.m.

"Getting a Degree Using the Internet," a free seminar on distance-learning options available to local residents, will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro. The presenter for the program will be Jennifer McLean, director of instructional technology and distance learning at Penn College.

In recognition of Ethnic Foods Month, the Pennsylvania College of Technology Library on Sept. 26 will present "Apples Outside the Pie," a program featuring the College's own Chef Paul Mach, co-host of the award-winning "You're the Chef" cooking series seen nationally on public television.

Nesse Godin, who survived a concentration camp, labor camps and a death march during World War II, will present "Surviving the Holocaust" when Pennsylvania College of Technology's Fall 2003 Lecture Series continues on Tuesday, Sept. 23. All of the Lecture Series programs are free and open to the public. The lectures begin at 8 p.m.

In three seasons under Coach Bambi Hawkins, the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team has made steady progress. This year, Hawkins hopes to take things up yet another notch. Last year, the Lady Wildcats went 9-10 overall and 7-7 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference, where they just missed making the playoffs. "I'm really excited.

Le Jeune Chef, Pennsylvania College of Technology's fine-dining restaurant, has been honored for the fourth consecutive year with a "Best of Award of Excellence" from "Wine Spectator" magazine for the breadth of its wine selection. The magazine announced its annual guide to the best restaurants in the world for wine in its Aug. 31 issue.
