The campus community is encouraged to support Penn College Theatrics and its production of “Radium Girls” this weekend. The play begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Penn’s Inn. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

Inspired by true events, “Radium Girls” tells the story of young women in the 1920s who worked as watch-dial painters and discovered a dark truth about their resulting illnesses. The powerful play highlights their bravery, the cost of silence and their fight for justice.

The cast is comprised of the following students: Leslie Escamilla-Ambrosio, business management; Jacob Martinez, robotics & automation; Kianna Rizzo, radiography and pre-applied health studies; Olivia Magann, business administration; Katheryn Juarez, industrial design; Samir Pringle, business administration; Dyshon Bryant, software development & information management; and Jared Patten, information technology. Alumna Megan Adams, ’24, industrial design, is also part of the cast.

The play is directed by Mary Herndon, industrial design, and Kathy Chesmel, assistant dean of materials science and engineering technology.
