A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, for Dale A. Metzker, a retired Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member and recipient of its Master Teacher Award. Metzker died March 10 at the age of 84.
The service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Saint John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church, 2101 Newberry St., Williamsport. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.

A 39-year employee of Pennsylvania College of Technology and its predecessor institutions, Williamsport Area Community College and Williamsport Technical Institute, Metzker retired as an associate professor of printing and publishing in 2002, the same year he received the Veronica M. Muzic Master Teacher Award, the college’s highest faculty honor. Metzker began his career at the college in 1963 as a production printer for WTI. (He had graduated from WTI in 1962 with a degree in offset and letterpress printing.) WTI became WACC in 1965, and Metzker joined the graphic arts faculty in 1966. Following his retirement, Metzker sat down for an oral history interview , sharing personal and professional perspectives, college history, and commentary on the evolution of printing, production and graphic communications technology.
He established the Dale A. Metzker Graphic Communications & Graphic Design Scholarship, which continues to benefit graphic design majors. His obituary states that memorial contributions may be made to the scholarship fund, addressed to Pennsylvania College of Technology, One College Avenue, Williamsport, PA, 17701.
He and his late wife, Sally, were members of the college’s Ambassadors Society level of giving and recognized on Penn College’s Donor Wall.
