The Student Government Association recently published its Fall 2024 newsletter, which highlights the work of SGA’s executive board, senators and student body to provide advocacy, representation and student engagement.

SGA significantly expanded its efforts this fall, successfully planning and executing a variety of events, including Bystander Intervention Training in partnership with the Office of Student Engagement, and the Trick or Treat on Third Street event, which brought together students and the local community. Additionally, SGA strengthened student advocacy efforts, holding 97 meetings, including regular Executive Board, General, and Advisor meetings, to ensure student voices were heard.

"From advocating for student concerns at College Council meetings to organizing impactful campus events, this team has worked tirelessly to strengthen student representation and engagement."

"I am incredibly proud of the dedication and leadership demonstrated by this year’s executive board and senators,” said SGA President Hayden D. Lester. Lester is a business administration student from Jersey Shore. “From advocating for student concerns at College Council meetings to organizing impactful campus events, this team has worked tirelessly to strengthen student representation and engagement. Their commitment has not only enhanced campus life but also laid the groundwork for future student leaders to build upon."

Looking ahead, SGA is planning a packed Spring 2025, with several key events:

  • The second annual Joint Student Government Association & Student Veterans Organization Aviator’s Ball – April 17 (rain date: April 24)
  • The Annual Silent Auction benefiting the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship – March 21
  • SGA Elections – The election process begins on Feb. 19 at SGA’s bi-weekly general meeting, which all interested students should attend to learn more about running for office.

The newsletter was prepared by Kaylena L. Harrell, vice president of public relations, and Ralph R. Courtright III, vice president of internal relations, with the assistance of the executive board. Harrell is a graphic design student from Williamsport. Courtright, of Milford, is majoring in construction management.

“We deeply appreciate the students, senators and executive board members who have contributed to SGA’s success this semester,” Lester said. “Their commitment to advocacy, leadership, and community engagement continues to make a lasting impact on Penn College.”
