Seek the good: 'Finding Purpose in Community'

Monday, January 27, 2025

Welding and fabrication engineering technology graduate Nate Lyon returns to Pennsylvania College of Technology to share his always-inspiring perspectives and consistent devotion to building community.

In “Finding Purpose in Community,” Tomorrow Makers podcast listeners will hear about Lyon’s latest career move – teaching welding at Milton Hershey School, where he “has a high degree of admiration” for his students. Whether he’s shepherding a class in “harnessing the power of lightning in our hands” or connecting one-on-one in an "older brother role," Lyon has definitely found deep meaning in his day-to-day outreach.

During his Penn College days, Lyon was a shining example of a superstar student, serving as an admissions tour guide, resident assistant, orientation leader and president of Campus Crusade for Christ (just to name a few of his commitments). Need a photo of him playing saxophone in the welding lab? Yep, he did that. A voiceover for a marketing video? He was on it. How about a student speaker for the new welding lab dedication? He was at the podium.

Despite being in the spotlight, Lyon is a humble changemaker and grace-giver who “seeks the good.” Join him on his journey.
