Pennsylvania College of Technology recently appointed Jessica I. Etzweiler as clinical director in its surgical technology program.
Clinical directors work closely with both students and external health care partners where students complete hands-on clinical education. In addition to hands-on practice in Penn College’s true-to-life labs, surgical technology students spend more than 700 hours learning in real-world operating rooms, gaining direct patient care experience.
Jessica I. Etzweiler
Etzweiler, a native of Munson in Clearfield County, most recently was a certified surgical first assistant for UPMC Vascular Surgery. She began her career as a certified surgical technologist with Susquehanna Health (now part of UPMC) in 2015 after completing an associate degree in health science, with a certification in surgical technology, from Mount Aloysius College.
She is a 2020 graduate of Meridian Institute of Surgical Assisting and holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University, where she is pursuing a Master of Business Administration.
“We’re excited to have Jessica join our program,” said Elizabeth S. Gizenski, director of surgical technology. “Her extensive knowledge and experience, combined with her specialized CSFA skills, will undoubtedly contribute to our team’s success.”
Penn College offers an associate degree in surgical technology that can be continued to an online bachelor’s degree in healthcare leadership & administration. To learn more, call 570-327-4518.
