Kicking off the new year, “Transformative Teamwork” reflects on the business of building a positive team culture with Ian Scheller, head coach of Penn College’s women’s soccer team.
This episode of the Tomorrow Makers podcast was released at the end of the year, but we didn’t want it getting lost in the holiday shuffle and college break, so we’re sharing it now.
Coming off of a winning season, the Wildcats women’s soccer players will soon be warming up for their “off season” (there’s no such thing as an “off season”) with workouts and practices, and Scheller shares inspiring ideas and humorous anecdotes on his team.
Hitch a ride on the team bus, where players are playing chess, crocheting, napping and “Netflixing.”
“Would I rather not be on a bus six hours for a day? I think I would, but I don't trade those memories for anything. It's some of the best memories I remember as a player, and it's some of the best memories I've had as a coach so far, too,” Scheller relates.
“Creating bonds and connections” is a Scheller specialty, and this episode will have listeners contemplating the vital role coaches and mentors play in our lives. Share how a coach has empowered your journey or how a mentor has shaped your life by email, and stay tuned for a new crop of thought-provoking episodes being released throughout Spring 2025.
