Penn College’s Student Government Association closed out the fall semester with meetings that covered a range of student engagement and campus wellness topics and also presented the opportunity to socialize with the vice president for academic affairs and provost.

For its Dec. 4 meeting, SGA held “Cookies & Conversation with the Provost,” featuring Joanna K. Flynn, who engaged with students by answering questions, sharing insights into her role and discussing ongoing campus initiatives. Attendees enjoyed delicious cookies, creating a welcoming environment for meaningful dialogue in the Thompson Professional Development Center.

Another highlight during the session was the confirmation of the Penn College Mechatronics and Electrical Organization as an official Penn College club.

SGA’s Nov. 22 meeting featured “Be the Change: Bystander Intervention Training,” presented by staff from the Office of Student Engagement.

“This workshop is designed to empower students with tools to support fellow Wildcats in situations where negative and harmful behaviors are occurring,” explained SGA President Hayden D. Lester. “The training will provide students with practical strategies for intervening effectively and promoting a safer campus environment.”

An overview of College Relations’ “Paw it Forward, Give Thanks" week was among the reports shared.

SGA represents students in all majors. The association collaborates with administration to support and fund social and academic activities sponsored by Penn College student organizations. It provides a venue of communication for students and encourages campus involvement and leadership skills among students by attending meetings, bringing up issues and topics, and participating in discussions. SGA's biweekly meetings resume Jan. 22.
