Fall Commencement set for Dec. 21 at Community Arts Center

Nearly 290 students have petitioned to graduate following the Fall 2024 semester at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
A commencement ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Community Arts Center. The ceremony, which will be livestreamed, is open to students who are registered to participate and ticketed guests; 188 students are expected to march.
The student speaker for the ceremony is Tamaka F. Carter, of Williamsport, who will earn a Bachelor of Science in business administration: management concentration. She is employed as a financial aid counselor at Penn College. Previously, she earned an Associate of Applied Science in business management. She is a Certified Medical Assistant and a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Carter, a Dean’s List student, will also receive the Board of Directors Award, presented for achievement under exceptional conditions, in a separate ceremony before commencement. The Harrisburg native will sing the national anthem at the commencement ceremony, as she has done at previous Penn College commencement ceremonies.
Carter completed El Roi’s Child Ministry course with Pastor Barbara Elerby in 2021. She serves as a minister under Prophet Isaac Evans and Pastor Sharon Evans at Love Unlimited Ministries in Williamsport, where her duties include head of the camera ministry and head of the choir.
During the ceremony, the college will present an Alumni Achievement Award to Jeffrey C. Comitz, of Montoursville, director of operations at Thermal Product Solutions, New Columbia. Comitz earned a Bachelor of Science in heating, ventilation & air conditioning design technology in 2016 and an Associate of Applied Science in heating, ventilation & air conditioning technology in 2015.
Penn College President Michael J. Reed will be joined (virtually) by state Sen. Gene Yaw, chair of the college’s Board of Directors, in conferring degrees and certificates upon the graduates.
