In the foyer of Penn College's Madigan Library, a 1928 Ford Model A truck is parked by the circulation desk. Restored by the late Dale Hoover, an architecture alumnus, the truck resembles the one operated by Hoover's great-grandfather.

A vintage milk truck is delivering smiles at Penn College’s Madigan Library. The 1928 Ford Model A truck is parked by the library’s circulation desk, inviting a steady stream of appreciation. The vehicle has been donated to the college’s automotive restoration program by the late Dale Hoover and his wife, Christina. Dale was a 1979 architecture graduate of Penn College’s predecessor institution, Williamsport Area Community College.

Dale had the truck restored to resemble the milk truck that his great-grandfather used for his business, Allen L. Hoover Dairy, which was located south of Herndon.

“We are honored that Dale and Christina thought to share this remarkable tribute with the college,” said Loni N. Kline, senior vice president for College Relations. “The truck is a welcome addition to the campus community, and the library offers the perfect location for it to be treasured.”

A special delivery
The truck adds a unique and surprising view at the library’s main entrance.
