On an "Inside Jobs Tour" through Penn College's 55,000-square-foot welding facility, members of the Central PA Chamber of Commerce glimpse some of the college's advanced welding equipment.

Members of the Central PA Chamber of Commerce visited Pennsylvania College of Technology on Wednesday for an “Inside Jobs Tour,” one of the chamber’s monthly outings to educate members on area businesses and organizations. In addition to informative campus presentations and tours, the 22 guests enjoyed a lunch catered by Le Jeune Chef Restaurant.

Michael J. Reed, college president, and Alison A. Diehl, vice president of workforce development, welcomed the visitors in the Thompson Professional Development Center. Sara R. Hillis Ousby, business development manager, and Michael A. Porter Jr., training specialist, provided an overview of the college’s Workforce Development department and its services.

Tours, led by Bradley M. Webb, dean of engineering technologies, and Courtney E. Dunne, coordinator of academic engagement, engineering technologies, guided chamber members through the Plastics Innovation & Resource Center, Lycoming Engines Metal Trades Center, Larry A. Ward Machining Technologies Center and Gene Haas Center for Innovative Manufacturing in College Avenue Labs.

Headquartered in Milton, the Central PA Chamber of Commerce encompasses five counties: Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union.

“Chambers of commerce are essential to the fabric of our communities,” Hillis Ousby said. “They play a vital role in connecting businesses, fostering collaboration and driving economic growth. We were excited to host the Inside Jobs Tour to highlight our workforce capabilities and the hands-on education available at Penn College.”
