Benjamin H. Eldred, a retired faculty member who taught for 32 years in the heavy construction equipment technology major at Pennsylvania College of Technology and its predecessor institution, Williamsport Area Community College, died Oct. 2 at the age of 77.
After graduating from the college’s service & operation of heavy equipment major in 1972, Eldred joined the faculty in 1973 and retired in December 2005. He received the 2000 Veronica M. Muzic Master Teacher Award, the college’s highest faculty honor. He played a key role in the college’s longtime partnership with Caterpillar Inc.
Eldred’s obituary is available online. His family has suggested memorial contributions can be made "In Memory of Ben Eldred" to support students in the heavy equipment program and mailed to Pennsylvania College of Technology, One College Avenue, Williamsport, PA 17701.
