During National Physical Therapy Month, Pennsylvania College of Technology physical therapist assistant students are formulating plans for a service-learning project to be held in March.
Every October, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and students celebrate National Physical Therapy Month to raise awareness among consumers about the many benefits of physical therapy. When consumers choose to participate in physical therapy, they are choosing to keep their bodies moving and, ultimately, choosing better health.
To promote choosing “more movement,” Penn College physical therapist assistant students are planning a “Wildcat Kids in Motion” event, inviting children with special needs and diverse abilities to participate in games and activities that promote functional movement while having fun. The event is scheduled March 27.
Physical therapist assistants are health care professionals who provide physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. They help people of all ages who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. PTAs work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, home health, nursing homes, schools, sports facilities and more.
Penn College offers an associate degree in physical therapist assistant. To learn more, call 570-327-4519.
