UPMC is again Performance Sponsor for arts center season

Wednesday, August 28, 2024

For the seventh year in a row, UPMC will be the Performance Series sponsor for the Community Arts Center’s new season. A consistent supporter of the cultural venue in downtown Williamsport, UPMC has played an integral role in bringing arts and entertainment to the region.

“The CAC plays a large role in supporting the vibrant arts community in the region,” said Kari Kurtz, director of community relations, UPMC in North Central Pa. “The venue is part of our history in Williamsport and affords an opportunity for our community members to experience big-city performances without the need to travel. We’re grateful for the opportunity to celebrate and support making Williamsport not only a destination for visitors, but a special place that individuals and families call home.”

The medical system has demonstrated its support of CAC programming since 1998.

Jim Dougherty, executive director of the CAC, added, “UPMC’s generous support has been indispensable in helping the Community Arts Center grow and thrive in recent years, and we’re incredibly appreciative of their continued partnership and investment in community initiatives throughout northcentral Pennsylvania.”

As part of its 2024-25 Performance Series sponsorship benefits, UPMC will receive acknowledgement in news and marketing efforts across various media platforms, along with special venue and event access.

In addition to serving as the Performance Series sponsor since the 2018-19 season, the medical system’s long-standing partnership in support of CAC programming began in 1998. That support has included the arts center’s annual campaign and endowment; Corporate Show Sponsor and Director’s Chair roles; and assistance through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program.

“We are so grateful for UPMC’s continued support and dedication to the CAC’s programming,” said Ana Gonzalez-White, college relations officer in charge of CAC development. “Their long-standing commitment is very much appreciated.”

Among the shows starting the 2024-25 season are: “Get the Led Out,” a celebration of Led Zeppelin music on Aug. 29; country musician Josh Turner, Sept. 27; “Floyd Nation,” a tribute to Pink Floyd, Oct. 5; Blues Traveler, Oct. 19; Celtic Thunder, Oct. 30; country singer Gary Allan, Nov. 15; Dokken and Winger, Nov. 23; and comedian Brian Regan, Nov. 24.

The CAC celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. The arts and entertainment venue opened in May 1993, following an extensive renovation of the former Capitol Theatre, a movie house and vaudeville theater that originally opened in October 1928.
